After the turbulent Karneval festivities that have their roots in the believe to drive away the demons of winter, the time of lent starts. Hundreds of years ago, the Bavarian monks have started brewing an especially potent beer called "Fastenbock" (Lentenbock), to make up for the lack of nutrition during the time of fasting. This "liquid bread" is offered at Zum Schneider right now.
