🍻 Beer Menu

This year we’re back by the East River, raising our Steins to four Bavarian breweries that each carry their own story, history, and taste of home:

🍺 Weihenstephan

We start with the oldest brewery in the world. Founded in 1040 by the monastery of Saint Stephan, it survived wars, fires, and even theft during the secular wars. Somehow the brewery always remained. Today they still source their hops, malt, and water exclusively from Bavaria and even cultivate their own yeast. They also work hand in hand with the brewing scientists at the Technical University in Munich, always pushing tradition forward. This year, for the first time at our Oktoberfest, you can enjoy their Hefeweizen on tap, alongside their Festbier. We even managed to bring in bottles of their non-alcoholic Weissbier.

🍺 Andechs

Then there is Andechs, still a monastery brewery today and very close to my heart. I grew up only 8 miles from there in the village of Weßling. In 2010 I initiated an export arrangement so I could finally pour my favorite monastery beer at Zum Schneider in New York. To this day, we are still their main representative in the city. Unfortunately, customs made it tricky this year, so quantities are limited. If you want a Maß, don’t wait too long!

🍺 HB Traunstein

Around the same time I brought Andechs over, I also managed to import HB Traunstein. For more than 10 years it was exclusive to our little restaurant on Avenue C. Even now you will rarely find it anywhere else in NYC except at our Oktoberfest. This year’s Festbier is on its way and will land fresh in port early September. And due to many requests, we also managed to squeeze some non-alcoholic Weissbier onto the container for the first time ever. As with Andechs, supplies are limited.

🍺 Paulaner

Finally, we welcome Paulaner, one of the five giants of the Munich Oktoberfest. Like many breweries, Paulaner began as a monastery brewery. The first official record was in 1634, when their beer became so popular that the competition complained to the Munich city council. Their strong Salvator bock made quite a stir back then. At our Oktoberfest, we will be pouring their Paulaner Festbier, first brewed in 1818 and still served today at the Wiesn. Tradition in every sip.

🍻 The Zum Schneider Experience

Step into a richly decorated Oktoberfest space inspired by the legendary tents of Munich where waitstaff in traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen serve steins of Festbier and classic Wiesn fare like crispy pork shank (Hax’n), roast chicken (Hendl), Obatzda cheese spread, and fresh-baked pretzels. Toast, sing along and dance with Mösl Franzi & The JaJaJa’s, our legendary oompah band bringing nonstop energy and original Oktoberfest songs all night long.
