Background:
Most of you are familiar with our elaborate Karneval parties and shows happening for more than a decade. We were in the middle of writing our first-ever original show "The History of Booze" when we discovered the tragic news that UDO JÜRGENS, the #1 Schlager/Pop Star of Germany, had passed on Dec. 21, 2014. Immediately we received a call from Zum fan Chris Kolle, urging me to throw a party in Udo's memory.
A tribute to the Legend of German Schlager UDO JÜRGENS, orchestrated by your favorite house band the JAJAJAS. Zum Schneiders' staff will slip into the shoes of international stars Udo Jürgens has influenced and worked with, such as Shirley Bassey, Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and the cartoon characters Tom & Jerry. This GALA guarantees to be the most fun one you've ever experienced and especially for all of you who have never heard of Udo Jürgens! ;). Check out the NY Time obituary.
Alaaf and Prost!
Your Franzi Spinatra aka Moesl Franzi aka Sylvester Schneider
Udo Jürgens was an Austrian composer and singer of popular music whose career spanned over fifty years. He won the Eurovision Song Contest 1966, composed close to 1,000 songs, and sold over 100 million records.
He is credited with broadening German-language pop music beyond the traditional postwar "schlager" in the 1960s by infusing it with a modern pop appeal. His compositions and arrangements attracted fans of all ages. Until his death at age 80, on December 21, 2014, he continued to fill concert venues in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Zum Schneider is honoring the legend, and dedicated this year's carneval to "the man in the bathrobe".
